Privacy-first clipboard manager for macOS

Everything you copy lands on a deck of cards you can search, pin, organise into boards, and paste straight back into the app you were using. Local by default, no telemetry.

Everything you copy, on a deck

Tora captures text, rich text, images, files, URLs, colours, and code, then shows each as a card with the right preview - syntax-highlighted snippets, colour swatches, image thumbnails, file sizes, and link hosts. Every card remembers the app it came from.

Boards keep it organised

Group clips into named, reorderable boards - drag a card in or save it from the card menu. A clip can live in several boards at once, there's a default Favourites board, and type filters narrow any view in a click.

Search that gets out of the way

Start typing to filter instantly across clips, source apps, and board names - multi-term substring matching, sub-50ms even at 10k+ items. Two VS Code-style toggles refine it: Aa for match case and ab for whole word. It's fully keyboard-navigable.

Preview, then paste straight back

Open any clip in a large preview to read it in full, then Copy or Paste. Tora pastes directly into the app you were just in via Accessibility - keep formatting by default, or hold a modifier for plain text. Queue several clips and paste them in sequence.

Make it yours

Pick an accent vibe - amber, rose, violet, ocean, forest, or graphite - and Tora retints itself top to bottom. Follow macOS appearance or pin light or dark, switch between a quick panel and a full window, and dial motion down if you like.

Private by default

A clipboard sees everything you copy, so Tora is built to keep it on your Mac.

Local, no telemetry

Your history lives in plain SQLite and files on your disk, protected by owner-only file permissions and FileVault. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Lock it with Touch ID

Turn on an optional app lock so your history only opens for you, with Touch ID or your password.

Encrypted sync, if you want it

Optional sync over iCloud Drive is end-to-end encrypted on-device before it leaves; the key stays in your macOS Keychain.

Queue paste

Select several clips and paste them in sequence, keep-formatting or force-plain.

Panel or window

A frameless vibrancy panel on a global hotkey (default Cmd+Shift+V), or a resizable full window.

Menu bar & login

A menu-bar icon with pause/resume capture, and optional launch at login.

Tidy history

Consecutive-duplicate dedup and retention from one day to unlimited, with a storage indicator.

All keyboard

Arrow, Enter, Space, and Delete drive the deck; a consistent focus ring follows you.

Fast at scale

Indexed storage and a pure search core keep it under 50ms at 10k+ clips.

Install

With Homebrew:

Or download the .dmg from the latest release (Apple silicon & Intel). Requires macOS 12 Monterey or later.

Tora isn't notarized yet, so on first launch right-click the app and choose Open to get past Gatekeeper. Once it's signed and notarized, that step goes away.
